REFLECTIONS ON GENDER QUOTAS IN LIGHT OF NANCY FRASER'S FEMINIST CRITICAL THEORY

In view of the growing academic and organizational debate on gender, we turn our attention in this article to the quota systems for female participation that have been adopted in different countries. In this context, we question the affinity of these systems with the effective gender equality demanded by feminist movements. The aim of this theoretical essay is to reflect on gender quotas in organizations in the light of the teachings of Nancy Fraser's feminist approach, which is committed to social justice and the emancipation of women. The theoretical articulation reveals that gender quotas are embedded in structures supported by neoliberal ideals and are therefore not capable of breaking with gender oppression.
