Published since 1989 and available only in digital format since 2013, the journal Physical Therapy in Movement publishes original scientific works and reviews of researches in Physical Therapy and Health, being the main areas:  Collective Health, Geriatrics and Gerontology, Neurology, Sports Physiotherapy, Cardiorespiratory, Dermato-Functional, Traumato-Orthopedics, Rheumatology, Hydrotherapy, Acupuncture, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Electrotherapy, Movement Analysis, Physical Therapy Teaching and Ergonomics. Any work that adresses health and human care, however, are accepted for evaluation.

Its abbreviated title is Fisioter. mov., which should be used in bibliographies, footnotes and bibliographical references.

Physical Therapy in Movement is a single blind peer review journal that publishes scientific papers in the areas of physical therapy and human health. The editorial assistant coordinates the exchange of information between the authors and the reviewers, and it is up to the editor in chief which articles will be accepted for publication, based on the recommendations made by the reviewers. If an article is rejected authors will receive a notification along with the editor in chief's explanation. Studies should be original and should not have already been published elsewhere in the peer-reviewed literature. Manuscripts that have been deposited in a non-commercial pre-publication repository (arXiv, bioRxiv, among others) or institutional repository are accepted as long as informed in the Open Science Compliance Form, which must be submitted as a supplementary file at the time of submission.

The journal adopts the Blackboard system for identifying plagiarism.

Physical Therapy in Movement is aligned with the manuscript qualification norms and standards established by WHO and by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). Clinical trial articles will only be accepted when registered in a Clinical Trial Registry recommended by WHO and the ICMJE, and Papers containing results from studies with humans and/or animals will only be accepted for publication if clear that all the ethical principles have been followed in the investigation. These papers must necessarily include a statement indicating that the research protocol has been approved by an institutional ethics committee (as established in the National Health Council Resolution 466/12 on the ethical guidelines for the development of research involving human subjects). For experiments involving animals, follow Pain international guidelines (PAIN, 16: 109-110, 1983).

Physical Therapy in Movement journal accepts original articles and systematic reviews resulting from studies developed in the areas related to physical therapy and human health.

Original article: resulting from empirical, experimental or conceptual research, it must contain: Title Page, Abstract and Resumo (both containing three to five descriptors), Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, References (up to 40 references). The text should have a maximum of 4,500 words and contain up to 5 illustrations.

Review: resulting from studies with defined planning and based on consistent bibliographic research, it must contain: Title Page, Abstract and Resumo (both containing three to five descriptors), Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion (Results and Discussion can be presented together), Conclusion, References. The text must have a maximum of 6,000 words and contain up to 5 illustrations. Note: Reviews will only be accepted in accordance with the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews. Registration number must be informed below the abstract.

Case Study and Case Report: will be accepted only when addressing rare cases, original diagnosis and treatment or unusual results. With the exception of the Title Page, Abstract and Resumo (both containing three to five descriptors), no specific structuring is required. We suggest, however, the text to be divided into Introduction, Description of the report, Discussion, Conclusion, References. The text must have a maximum of 2,500 words, excluding the title page, abstracts, references, tables, figures and legends, and contain up to 5 illustrations.

• Publication fee: R$600 payable upon article acceptance.
• Papers may be submitted in Portuguese or English, and the text must contain an abstract in each language. Once accepted for publication the article must be translated to English, authors being responsable for the translation costs.
• Papers should be submitted as a Microsoft Word file, A4 paper size, 1.5 space in 12 point, Times New Roman or Arial font. 
• Illustrations (figures, graphs, charts and tables) should be limited to a maximum of five (5), inserted in the text file, identified and numbered consecutively in the text in Arabic numerals. Figures must be submitted in high resolution (minimum of 300 dpi) and in TIFF or EPS format.
• Up to seven (7) authors per article.  It´s important to provide the exact list and order of authors at the time of the submission. Any addition, deletion or rearrangement of authorship must be informed and made solely upon approval by the journal´s editorial board.
• All submissions are handled via the ScholarOne Manuscripts platform.

In order to submit the original text, the following structure should be observed:

Title page

English and Portuguese title, containing no more than 12 words,  sufficiently specific and descriptive.

Full name, ORCID, institutions and respective cities/states of all authors. Identify the corresponding author and email for contact.

Describe the specific contribution of each author to the work. Each author must have participated in the work sufficiently to be able to publicly assume responsibility for its content.Y our participation should include: a) conception or design, analysis and interpretation of data, or both; b) writing of the manuscript or its revision, when including important intellectual criticism of its content; c) final approval of the version to be published. Simple participation in data collection does not justify authorship. Contributors who do not meet the criteria for authorship but who have contributed to the study or manuscript, should be recognized in the Acknowledgments section, specifying their contribution.

Abstract/Resumo

The structured abstract should include the topics presented in the paper: Introduction, Objective, Methods, Results, Conclusion. It must contain from 150 to 250 words maximum. The last line must contain the minimum of 3 and maximum of 5 keywords/palavras-chave, being representative of the work content. Only descriptors found in DeCS and MeSH will be accepted.

Body Text

• Introduction should concisely state the purpose of the study and to describe which advances have been achieved with the research. The introduction should not include data or conclusions of the work in question. 
• Methods must offer, in a brief and objective way, information enabling the study to be replicated by other researchers. We ask you to reference the standard techniques. 
• Results should provide a brief description of the new findings, with little personal opinion. 
• Discussion interprets the results and relate them to prior knowledge, especially those reported previously in the introduction. This part should be presented separately from the results.
• Conclusion should be limited to the purpose of the new findings, relating them to prior knowledge. Use quotes only when they are necessary to support the study. 
• Acknowledgments, if any, should be synthetic and concise. 
• References: must be numbered consecutively in the order they appear in the text and follow the Vancouver style. They must be presented in the text, tables and captions by superscript Arabic numbers. The accuracy of references and correct citation in the text are the responsibility of the authors. Examples:

- Elderly people with OAJ are nine times more likely to have a faster decline in gait speed than elderly people without OA, with a 2.75% decrease in gait speed per year.¹

- According to Kaufman et al.² and Kim et al.,³ individuals with KOA tend to walk at slower speeds to reduce joint stress on the knee joint.
